Last weekend the Daytona International Raceway found itself electrified by hosting the TTXGP eGrandPrix World Championship.  It was a week of firsts as not only was this the first ever electric race at Daytona, the ICON Brammo race team set a record for highest speed reached on an electric motorcycle and brought home our first TTXGP World Champion Title.  Read more commentary on the race weekend here:

Also, if you weren’t able to join us in Daytona for the race don’t feel left out!  Click on the vids below for behind the scenes history-making action:

The Electric Ride

October 26, 2012 at 12:26 pm

Every Friday a handful of Brammo employees break away from their offices, desks and other work nooks, unplug a Brammo motorcycle,  meet in the parking lot, and head out for the “Friday Electric Ride.”  A gang of engineers, designers, techs, marketing and other Brammonians motor through town to the Ashland Plaza for pizza and time together to… well… talk about motorcycles!  The looks and comments that we observe from under our helmets are always entertaining.  After all, it’s not everyday that you see a parade of alluring futuristic motorcycles which emit – not smog – but TIE fighter whines (think Star Wars) whiz through town and disappear into traffic!

Battery Lab Tough Guys Take “Charge” to Keep Plastics out of Our Landfill

October 25, 2012 at 11:40 pm

For the last few weeks, battery lab technicians Chris Sheldon and Doug Weir have been hoarding the plastic waste at the battery lab that isn’t recyclable in our normal pick-up. On October 19th they loaded up our box van with the plastic from the battery lab, and also headed up to Brammo HQ to collect any additional plastic waste material, then brought the truck-load to the Jackson County Recycling Partnership’s annual “Plastic Round-up.”

The 2011 round-up kept nearly 30 tons of plastic out of our landfill. We are looking forward to seeing the total tonnage count for this year, and are happy to have been a part of the solution this year!  While recycling is better than chucking our stuff into the trash can, it is still not the best solution.  We are working with Ashland Recology’s “Waste Zero Specialist” to start moving towards a stronger sustainability ethic at Brammo by reducing and reusing more, as well as increasing recycling at the battery lab and headquarters.

Watch the Empulse take on speed, corners, and the rumors that electric motorcycles aren’t as fun as gas powered bikes.  Journalist Wes Siler and our very own Team Icon Brammo racer Eric Bostrom take the Production Empulse R for an eye opening spin in the hills above Ashland OR. Get on board the Empulse R… drop a knee… feel the twisties, and hear the road. Listen in as Eric and Wes discuss the subtle yet ground breaking differences between the Empulse R EV and it’s gas brethren."
