Ashland, OR, March 25th 2013 - Brammo, Inc. a global leader in the electric vehicle industry today revealed its latest race bike liveries.

As reigning World Champions Team ICON Brammo is looking forward to being back on top of the podium, and doing so with new motorcycles and new livery for both the bikes and riders.

Icon was a great partner in 2012 and their willingness to “push the limits” in design, aesthetics, and functionality of the gear they develop has made them a perfect fit for Brammo and the pioneering spirit of driving EV technology forward on the racetrack. About Icon

Icon does not exist within a vacuum. We are both influenced by and influence the greater world of motorcycling. That world extends far beyond the 'stunt' community for which we are most closely associated. Indeed - fighters, rats, sportys, choppers, cafes, flattrackers, roadracers, scooters, antiques, minibikes, and oddball mashup customs have an equal place under the Icon tent. Combine these cultures with our fundamental goal of championing the street riders cause (i.e. protecting your ass) and you have the core of the brand we call Icon.

From exotics like Tesla Model A and Fisker Karma to everyday hybrids such as Ford C-Max and tiny wunderkind Nissan Leaf, electric vehicles and likes have solidified their claims on the 4-wheel marketplace. But because of its higher cost of entry to the 2-wheel market, developments on the motorcycle front have been quite limited till the arrival of Brammo and its Empulse motorcycle.

We head to Ashland, Oregon for a chance to test drive the Brammo Empulse R electric motorcycle. The Empulse R has a unique 6-speed transmission setup to provide plenty of push off the line and a top end speed of over 100 miles per hour. But can the eerily silent, gas-free Empulse R really keep up with its gas-burning sportbike rivals? We interview Brammo CEO Craig Bramscher and take the Empulse R for a spin to find out.

Government Tax Credit Extension for 2-Wheel Electric Vehicles Promises Growth for Brammo and Jobs Locally - January 8, 2013, 12:00 pm
ASHLAND, Ore., January 2, 2013 – Brammo Inc., a leading developer of electric vehicle technology and manufacturer of two-wheel electric vehicles is delighted by the news from Washington D.C. that the federal tax credit for electric motorcycles and other two and three-wheeled vehicles has been extended through 2012 and 2013. With this extension, electric motorcycle enthusiasts will continue to receive personal tax incentives when purchasing the Enertia Plus, Empulse and Empulse R models.

The provision, passed late last night along with other fiscal reforms, extends the federal tax credit for plug-in two and three-wheeled electric plug-in vehicles for two years. This tax credit can cover up to 10% of the vehicle's cost or a maximum of $2,500.

Brammo sends particular thanks to U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) whom offered the amendment and fought for it in the final hours of the Congress, and Congressman Greg Walden (R-Ore.) who protected  the tax credit in the House under the most difficult of circumstances. Additional support from U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) not only for electric vehicles, but for sustainability and clean energy initiatives overall, will continue to help drive Oregon as a leader of green and clean legislation.

“This bi-partisan work and cooperation results in jobs and support for companies like Brammo,” said Craig Bramscher, CEO of Brammo. “It makes us proud when our elected office holders work together and excited for what this means for electric vehicles and the electric motorcycle industry, which will make these ‘vehicles of the future’ more accessible to all consumers.”

US Extends Federal Tax Credit for Electric Motorcycles through 2013 - January 3, 2013, 11:00 am
With most of the top-drawer electric motorcycles being more expensive than the traditional machines in the same "class", seeing the US authorities extending the tax credit as incentive for buying electric motorcycles is really a nice move for the end of 2012 and early 2013.

Fiscal cliff bill preserves electric motorcycle and other tax credits - January 2, 2013, 7:00 pm
The U.S. narrowly avoided a self inflicted recession that was to be triggered by the "Fiscal Cliff" when Congress passed an emergency bill, the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. There was a long list of special tax provisions due to expire at the end of 20112, some of which were related to green energy and electric vehicles. With the extreme political wrangling, these may have gotten lost, but instead they were preserved in the bill.

The Joint Committee on Taxation published an 8-page list of details of the tax effects of the Taxpayer Relief Act. The list of preserved tax items is good news for those in support of the green energy and technology proposals of the Obama Administration.

2013 Brammo Empulse R Review: An Electric Ride For Serious Riders - December 19, 2012, 7:00 am
The electric motorcycle segment is dotted with eager players, but few are equipped with the means-- both financial and otherwise-- to make the technological breakthroughs required to be taken seriously in this emerging market. Among the elite manufacturers in this electrified microcosm are Santa Cruz, California-based Zero, and the Ashland, Oregon-based Brammo.

The latest from Brammo is the Empulse, a long-awaited EV that packs a host of advanced hardware and a price to match-- $16,995 for the standard model, and $18,995 for an "R" version, which features carbon fiber trim and uprated suspension setup with greater adjustability.

The first delivery went to a customer in San Francisco via the Scuderia West dealership. The Brammo fan forum lit up with early reviews of the bike from the enthusiastic owner.

Brammo delivers first Empulse electric motorcycle, promises Enertia Plus for January - December 14, 2012, 8:00 am
"It's been a long time coming – It's well worth the wait" – Tragically Hip

It seems whenever I think about the long awaited arrival of the Brammo Empulse electric motorcycle this chorus begins playing in my head. That's partly because I'm both covertly Canadian and old enough to have had this song seared into memory from extensive radio play in the early '90s, but also because it just fits the situation so well.

The Empulse was first announced back in July of 2010 and was expected to be within the grasp of customers anxious hands about a year later. People got excited. It was to be the world's first commercially available electric bike that could top 100 miles per hour and get over a 100 miles of range from a charge. It also looked sexy enough to hold its own when surrounded by scantily-clad Brammo babes. The reservations poured in.

13 bikes that will make 2013 awesome - December 14, 2012, 8:00 am
Finally on-sale, the Empulse is the bike that’s really going to put electric motorcycles on the map. That’s because it’s not just some poor excuse for a motorcycle that happens to be powered by an electric drill, it’s a badass performance bike that’ll out-handle pretty much anything out there. Seriously, it’s one of the most confidence inspiring, characterful, fun experiences on two wheels and that it just so happens not to be super loud or emit pollutants ends up being added value. Straight-line performance is only on par with a middleweight twin like a Ninja 650, but so good in corners you just won’t care. Believe the hype on this one.

Electric cars get all the love, but there’s just as much innovation in the electric motorcycle space. Sure, a bike like the Brammo Empulse doesn't have the roar of a gasoline-burning, CO2-emitting machine, but what it lacks in aural excitement it makes up for in maneuverability and torque.

The Brammo Empulse R doesn't have to deal with the rotational mass of an internal-combustion drivetrain or the moving weight of sloshing fuel. That makes it one of the sharpest-handling motorcycles we’ve ever ridden.

2013 Brammo Empulse R Review - Video; The e-bike we've been waiting for - December 6, 2012, 8:00 am
Brammo has been teasing the world with its Empulse and up-spec Empulse R electric motorcycles for more than two years. Boasting performance claims of 100 mph and 100 miles per charge, it would blow its competition out of the water if the hype were true. We media types and consumers alike couldn’t wait to get our hands on one to flog around.

Instead, we waited. Fueled only by pictures on the internet and social media chatter, Brammo created substantial hype for its product, while doubters started to wonder if they’d ever see an Empulse in the flesh.

Finally the wait is over. We’ve got our hands on a $18,995 Empulse R, which costs two grand more than the base Empulse and features fully adjustable suspension and carbon fiber accent pieces. It’s time to discover if the hype was worth the wait.

For years, the phrase "electric motorcycle" really meant "battery-operated scooter." Then the Brammo Empulse arrived. Taking a whir on Brammo’s Empulse R electric motorcycle - November 25, 2012, 8:00 am
With no engine, no exhaust and no need for gas, Brammo’s Empulse R lacks the visceral staples of traditional motorcycling, but delivers where it counts when you roll on the throttle.

The starting drill for the Empulse R, Brammo’s premiere electric motorcycle, will be familiar to anyone who has ridden a modern “regular” motorcycle.

Put in the key. Turn key. Wait for the electronics to boot up, and push the starter button.
It’s the ensuing silence that takes some getting used to.

Adam Lukoic, Service Manager for Brammo, who is seated on the well-worn Empulse Test Bike No. 2 next to me, looks me in the eye through his helmet and says, “It’s ready to go.”

But I’m not completely sure I am as I sit astride the $18,999 Empluse R, arguably the most advanced electric motorcycle available to the riding public today.

I’m standing next to production bike number 24, completed just minutes before at the hands of the assembly team inside the Brammo complex in bucolic Ashland, Oregon. Protective tape still covered some of the bike’s plastic parts when Lukoic rolled it out to the parking lot.

BRAMMO EMPULSE R, A motorcycle that just happens to be electric - November 19, 2012, 8:00 am
Switch on the Brammo Empulse R and push what appears to be a start button, and no starter grinds an engine to life, no ignition ignites a volatile mixture and no exhaust barks as it purges burnt gases. Instead, the dashboard blinks ever so silently as the Empulse boots up. Twist the throttle a few seconds later and the 470-pound machine whirs and pulls away briskly.

Acceleration is quick and extremely smooth as the tach soars toward 9000 rpm. A quick pull on the clutch and a toe-up of the shift lever brings a solid click to second, then third, then fourth. In just a few short seconds, the Empulse R is traveling an indicated 85 mph. This machine is a motorcycle first and only then an electric vehicle. Impressive.

Path to the Empulse’s current design, however, was long for Brammo: The Ashland, Oregon-based company first showed the bike in the summer of 2010—a racier, higher-performance and longer-range electric bike than its Enertia city bike, which was based on the racebikes that it ran in the TTXGP and other electric races. The configuration was straightforward: Two aluminum beams bent outward and reached straight back and down to the swingarm pivot. Cradled between the beams were Brammo-designed lithium-ion battery packs. Below the packs was the electric motor controller and above were the vehicle control computer and recharging circuitry, covered with something that looked much like a gas tank; it even had a cap, which covered not a filler to put gasoline in but the socket for a level-2 electric recharging plug. This original pre-production Empulse had a 50-plus-horsepower electric motor cradled down near the swingarm pivot driving a chain directly from its output shaft.

TTXGP World Champions Brammo set to wow the crowds at EICMA 2012: Steve Atlas and the Empulse RR to join Brammo at the show - November 7, 2012, 12:00 am
Ashland, Oregon, USA  November 07, 2012 – Brammo, Inc., the world-leading developer of electric motorcycles, today announced its plans for EICMA 2012, the 70th International Motorcycle Exhibition in Milan, Italy.

Brammo arrives at EICMA fresh from a major victory on the world racing scene. Last month, Team Icon Brammo won the 2012 TTXGP World Final at Daytona with the new Empulse RR, ridden by Steve Atlas. The team’s victory at the World Final builds on its North American TTXGP titles in 2011 and 2012.

This year at EICMA, World TTXGP Champion, Steve Atlas, will be present on the Brammo stand at regular intervals throughout the show for autographs. Please visit the stand for more information.

The foundation of Brammo’s racing success lies in its innovative technology developments, which also drive the success of the company’s commercial, road-going motorcycles, including:

The Empulse R, which is the road-going version of the Empulse RR and features the world’s first 6 speed transmission for an electric motorcycle with a specially developed water cooled electric motor and IET™ gearbox. These technology developments enable the bike to accelerate hard to above 100mph/160kph.
The Enertia Plus, which removes the intimidation and complexity of traditional motorcycles and sets a new level in electric motorcycle performance. The latest Brammo Power 44/70 battery dramatically increases the range of the Enertia Plus to 80 miles/128 km. Also, a tighter turning radius makes city riding even more enjoyable.

Both the Empulse R and Enertia Plus will be on the Brammo stand at EICMA 2012, as well as the 170mph/273kph Empulse RR race bike.
“The European market is very important to Brammo and we are very excited to be back at EICMA,” said Craig Bramscher, Founder and CEO, Brammo, Inc. “With our recent victory at the TTXGP World Final, we have proven that our electric motorcycle technology is at the very forefront of global developments in this area and we are looking forward to showing our latest models to the European audience at EICMA.”
Brammo will be using EICMA 2012 as an opportunity to engage directly with European dealers and suppliers.

Key Brammo staff members and the bikes will be available for the duration of the show at Hall 02, Stand I40 at EICMA 2012.

Craig Bramscher Shares His Electric Motorcycle Brammo Success - October 22, 2012, 1:30 pm
I had an interesting chat with Craig Bramscher, CEO of Brammo in order to understand how far the company has come, the current race results and what the future holds in store for the electric motorcycle maker.

NZ. Brammo has been around for a while now, how do you reflect on the past few years?

CB. We are a premium brand without compromise, and from the beginning we’ve prided ourselves in listening to customers and anticipating market developments. Not many people know that we actually evolved from a gas-powered bike brand into a top electric motorcycle maker in less than 10 years. Brammo strong in TTXGP World Championship practice and qualifying [w/video] - October 20, 2012, 3:00 pm
Daytona is a noisy place this weekend, with Biketoberfest happening concurrently with the Fall Cycle Scene. The streets echo with the potato-potato sounds of thousands of Harley Davidson cruisers, whilst inside the Daytona International Speedway, the air is filled with the screams of a few dozen assorted racing bikes.

One end of the paddock at the race track is an island of aural calm, however. Here, the teams contesting the TTXGP World Championship are going through the process of practice and qualifying for Sunday's big race. While there is the typical spinning of wrenches and plotting of strategy, the revving of engines is replaced by the click-clacking of laptops.

Brammo Empulse RR Ready for Daytona - October 12, 2012, 6:30 am
There's not much time left for the 2012 TTXGP World Series Final which will take place in Daytona, and Brammo are readying for another win, stressing their total domination over the electric bike racing world at the moment.

The competition was not too exciting, as the electric motorcycle racing industry is still in its infancy. Of course, things will hopefully grow better as years bass by and more manufacturers are expected to show interest (and financing) in the future.

Lightning Motorcycles could become one feared competitor in the TTXGP World Series, as their bike can really race and Agni could do so, too, but still there is a lot to go until this championship reaches the popularity of classic racing.

Fort Collins police test all-electric motorcycle - September 29, 2012, 12:01 am
It's not a Harley-Davidson, or even a Kawasaki.

But the electric-powered motorcycle the Fort Collins Police Department is testing to fight crime may eventually become part of its fleet.
"The reaction from a lot of our officers when we asked them if they wanted to try it was mostly, 'I don't think so,' " said Lt. Hal Dean. "But once they've rode it, almost everyone of them said they liked it."

The cycle — officially the Enertia Plus LE — is a product of Ashland, Ore.-based Brammo Inc.

Brammo is loaning the motorcycle to see if it will work as a law enforcement tool. That includes patrol, security and traffic enforcement details. After another week or so, the cycle will go to Colorado State University for a trial run.

Then CSU and Fort Collins cops will meet with Brammo executives to see how the machine did. Brammo's cycles are already in use in Ashland as well as in Europe and Hong Kong, the company said.

Brammo Inc. Partners with Colorado Police Department - September 27, 2012, 12:00 am
ASHLAND, Ore., September 27, 2012— Brammo, Inc., an electric motorcycle manufacturer based in Ashland, Oregon, is working with the Fort Collins, Colorado Police Department to explore Brammo’s motorcycles for department use.

The Fort Collins Police Department is currently using Brammo’s all-electric Enertia Plus LE on a trial basis. The Enertia Plus LE comes equipped with emergency lights and accessories that will allow the Fort Collins Police Department to use it in various patrol, security and traffic enforcement details.

“As we look to maximize fuel efficiency and green technology, it made sense to conduct a trial of Brammo’s all-electric motorcycle” stated Jim Szakmeister, Captain of the police department’s Patrol Division.

Brammo’s motorcycles are already in use in a number of international and domestic government fleets, including the Hong Kong Police Department and the Ashland Police Department in Oregon.  The adoption of Brammo’s electric motorcycles by police and municipal departments help reduce municipal air emissions, reduce costs, while maintaining safety.   Brammo also works with police departments to collect feedback on the day-to-day performance of their motorcycles, valuable insight which is incorporated into future motorcycle design.

Craig Bramscher, CEO and Founder of Ashland, Oregon-based Brammo Inc. said, “We are proud to help municipal agencies electrify their motorcycle fleets. As the world’s leading manufacturer of electric motorcycles, we were confident that we would lead this charge and we are delighted that we can continue to help build a clean energy future by bringing electric vehicles into government use.”

Team Icon Brammo Takes First and Second Place at TTXGP North American Championship Race - September 5, 2012, 12:00 am
ASHLAND, Ore., Sept. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- This Labor Day weekend was anything but tranquil for Team Icon Brammo.  The team's newest addition, legendary superbike racer and former AMA champion, Eric Bostrom, took first place at the TTXGP North American Championship race at Utah's Miller Motorsports Park.  The team's defending 2011 champion, Steve Atlas, took second in the race as well as the TTXGP North American Championship 2012 title for leading the season in points.

Race fans were wowed by Bostrom's record lap of 1:38.4, which was quicker than all the 2012 superbikes tested at the track months earlier by CycleWorld magazine. This time was faster than all but one of the gasoline-powered bikes racing at the track this past weekend in the AHMRA race series.

With the points scored, Brammo finished the season with an Atlas win of the Rider's Championship, by Atlas, as well as the Team/Constructor's Championship, a difficult feat to achieve in any race series.  This feat is made all the more impressive by a relatively rocky start to the season with two crashes at the opening round at Infineon Raceway resulting in a back injury to defending TTXGP champion Steve Atlas and a broken wrist for AMA Superbike stand-out Steve Rapp.

Team Manager, Brian Wismann, commented on the win, "Team Icon Brammo are exceedingly happy with this storybook ending to a season that began as a nightmare with the double crashes at Infineon (Sonoma).  This team deserves every bit of the satisfaction of a double-podium and consecutive national championship having put in an incredible effort to get the bikes working well for these two talented riders. We're just now hitting our stride and Daytona can't come fast enough!"

While this race marks the end of the North American TTXGP season, there is still the combined TTXGP and FIM ePower World Final in October, which will be held in the US for the first time at Daytona International Speedway.  Brammo expects to see the toughest competition yet at this event, as all riders and teams will be vying for the title of "2012 World Champion."

In This Electric Motorcycle Lies The Future Of Hoonage - August 30, 2012, 2:00 pm
In This Electric Motorcycle Lies The Future Of Hoonage - By Wes Siler, Jalopnik

I've seen the future, and it's a grim place for hoons like you and me. Cameras will monitor our speed. Congestion will reduce our opportunities to drive fast. Our own vehicles will report driver behavior back to the authorities. Hell, it's 2012 and it'd be socially unacceptable to enjoy our vehicles' performance even if we could afford to put gas in the tank. But what if there were a third way?

I think I might have found just that in this Brammo Empulse R. It was designed by and for the 21st century hoon.
(Full Disclosure: Brammo wanted me to be the first journalist to ride the Empulse so bad, they flew me up to Oregon, fed me salmon burgers, then woke me up at 3am and shipped me back to LA on the earliest flight out.)

The Fastest Electric Motorcycle Is Also the Most Practical

By Wes Siler, Wired Magazine

The promise of this new electric motorcycle is clear and simple: a top speed over 100 mph and a range in excess of 100 miles.

Achieving either would give Brammo’s Empulse R a marked advantage over any other production electric motorcycle to date. Doing both holds the potential to rocket the nascent form of transportation into the mainstream, creating a product that’s not just environmentally friendly and cheap to run, but also real-world, everyday practical and fun to ride.

Brammo Empulse: the electric motorcycle has finally arrived

By Wes Siler, Hell for Leather

Electric motorcycles: slow, boring, short ranges, expensive. When I flew up to Oregon last week to ride the Brammo Empulse I expected a good bike. A practical commuter, an efficient appliance, maybe something a little bit fun. But, what I got was something entirely different. As you can see, this is a very serious motorcycle.

My first experience with Brammo was back in 2009 when they were visiting New York to get media types onboard the then-new Enertia. Craig, the CEO, seemed like a smart guy and the bike — friendly-looking, fitted with actual motorcycle components and capable of exceeding its modest performance claims — was pretty neat. But, it was still scooter slow and only capable of 30 or 40 miles on a full charge. Electric motorcycles: much promise, little reality.

Team Icon Brammo Adds Legendary Motorcycle Rider Eric Bostrom to Roster - July 25, 2012, 12:00 am
ASHLAND, Ore.; July 25th, 2012 – Further solidifying Brammo’s leading role in the electric vehicle racing space, Brammo, Inc. announced today Eric Bostrom will be joining Steve Atlas as a rider for the world-famous Team Icon Brammo.

Bostrom joins Team Icon Brammo with over two decades of experience riding for companies such as Ducati, Harley Davidson Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki. As Brammo racers, Atlas and Bostrom will provide instrumental feedback on Brammo’s racing bike, the Brammo Empulse RR, while promoting Brammo as the leading electric two-wheel vehicle brand.

“Team Icon Brammo is excited to add a rider of Eric’s caliber to our team headed into the most important race weekend of the season, the FIM ePower/TTX Championship 2012 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca,” said Brian Wismann, Director of Product Development for Brammo and Manager of Team Icon Brammo. “Eric’s insight and experience will be an instrumental resource in continuing to develop the promising potential of electric motorcycle technology.”

Brammo is leading in the development and production of electric motorcycles, largely thanks to insights weaned from Team Icon Brammo. In 2009, Brammo competed in the first ever TTXGP race and finished as the top American team. Since then, racing has been core to the development of Brammo’s consumer and racing motorcycles, including the Empulse R, which is the world’s fastest production electric motorcycle for consumers. Further elevating their rich racing history, Brammo won the 2011 TTXGP North American Championship, with the Empulse RR and rider Steve Atlas.

“As I’ve always said, I have a love for all things on two wheels. Since my departure from Superbike competition, I’ve been competing in bicycle racing which has sparked my growing compassion for green power,” said Bostrom. “Having ridden both Brammo’s street and race models, the progress electric bikes have made in their short existence is nothing short of phenomenal. Our quest to develop the best bikes of tomorrow is off and to the races, and leaving a smaller footprint along the way.”

Brammo Dominates the Inaugural Round of TTXGP Electric Motorcycle Racing at Infineon Raceway Setting Outright Lap Record. - May 16, 2011, 12:00 am
Ashland, OR, May 16th 2011--Brammo, Inc. a global leader in the electric vehicle industry, dominated the A123 Infineon round of the TTXGP North American Championship series for electric motorcycles this weekend in Sonoma, California. Not only did Brammo win both races, it also established a new lap record at the first ever AMA and FIM North American Union-endorsed TTXGP race. With AMA Champion rider Steve Atlas astride the Empulse RR motorcycle, Brammo consistently scored a higher average lap speed (fastest lap 1:55.150) than last year's winner of the TTXGP North American Infineon race, ZeroAgni. and posting faster times for longer, Brammo fired its opening volley in the 2011 season with an outstanding demonstration of its technology, experience and talent.

The results this weekend make it clear that Brammo truly is leading electric vehicle innovation with its Brammo Power battery pack and vehicle management system.

Brian Wismann, Director of Product Development for Brammo, said; "This weekend was a great result for Brammo and it feels good to reap the benefits of many months of hard work and overcoming development challenges in a very public way. We've been convinced about the performance potential of this package and with the help of some great partners and a very talented rider, we were able to prove that potential on the track this weekend. We're looking forward to the chance to pit the Empulse RR against the best efforts from the likes of Mission, Lightning, and Motoczysz when their bikes are ready."

Steve Atlas the Brammo Empulse RR rider stated "I had a blast on the Empulse RR this weekend and I'm stoked we were able to set the track record for these bikes. I think we're just at the start of this technology and the Brammo boys are doing a great job moving the sport on to higher levels of performance."

    TTXGP Infineon Preview 2011 - May 10, 2011, 12:00 am
This coming weekend marks the opening round of the North American 2011 TTXGP Series at Infineon Raceway in Northern California, with A123 Systems stepping up as the new title sponsor. The five-round series also visits tracks like Virginia International Raceway and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, just to name a few. And putting the icing on the cake, the top teams will be invited to a world final, facing off with squads from the TTXGP Europe and TTXGP Australian Series, with the aim of being the World TTXGP Champion for 2011. The location for the finale is yet to be determined, but expect something in Europe, probably Spain if last year is any inclination. In 2010 it was held at Albacete, with the Munch Racing team coming out on top.

Back to the first round on our shores... The GP will be run in conjunction with Round 2 of the AMA Series at Infineon this weekend, May 13-15, featuring a variety of teams, some who raced last year and others new to the fray. Adding to the excitement for MotoUSA is that yours truly will be piloting the factory Brammo entry, a bike based on their upcoming Empulse street model, though modified extensively for race use and designated the Empluse RR. This race has been a long time in the making for the Brammo boys, as they were going to line up at Laguna Seca last year but a technical gremlin prevented that from happening, so redemption is high on their priority list. We've already tested the machine twice in our Electric Superbike Racing: Brammo Part I and Part II test, so we already have a good baseline setting and have hopefully overcome last year's issues.

The Daily Start-Up: Electric Motorcycle Maker Brammo Aiming at $1B+ IPO - November 30, -0001, 12:00 am
Electric motorcycle maker Brammo, which just raised $13 million, is taking a page from the Tesla Motors handbook and applying it to the powersports sector, hoping that a similarly successful IPO will be in the cards one day. “Our goal is to have a greater than a billion dollar IPO,” said Chief Executive Craig Bramscher. It’s a level of ambition that’s not often heard in today’s clean-tech world.

Betting that carriers need help parsing spectrum to the growing league of mobile subscribers, Samsung’s venture group has made a strategic investment in Stoke. In exchange for some equity, the mobile gateway company will receive $5 million from the electronic giant’s venture arm, bumping total outside investment to $97 million.

Also in today’s VentureWire, Agilone, with funding from Sequoia Capital, is expanding its predictive marketing application to a broader set of uses. It’s exploring areas adjacent to marketing, such as merchandising, pricing, supply-chain optimization and sales effectiveness…AstraZeneca, which has been looking to add to its neuroscience pipeline as it tries to counter the loss of market exclusivity for the blockbuster antipsychotic medicine Seroquel IR, said it has acquired a portfolio of neuroscience assets from venture-backed Link Medicine for an undisclosed amount…and in a nod to the rapidly expanding use of electronic signatures, which can speed transaction times, improve security and cut costs, DocuSign raised $47.5 million in Series D funding led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers with participation from three other new investors.

Brammo's team wins e-motorcycle racing series for second year running - November 30, -0001, 12:00 am
Brammo's electric motorcycle racing program took home the TTXGP North American Championship trophy over the weekend, claiming the win for the second year in a row.

In the official race at Utah's Miller Motorsports Park, Brammo's newest team member, former AMA champion Eric Bostrom, took first place. Teammate Steve Atlas came in second during the race and earned the season championship title for leading the season in points.

"This team deserves every bit of the satisfaction of a double-podium and consecutive national championship having put in an incredible effort to get the bikes working well for these two talented riders," said Brian Wismann, Team Icon Brammo's manager in a press release.

The TTXGP, also known as the eGrandPrix, was launched in 2009 and presents a championship racing series in Europe, North America and Australia. The North American series included a stop at the Portland International Raceway in June, its first time in Oregon.

Brammo won last year's TTXGP North American Championship, which also included a race-winning showing from Portland-based MotoCzysz.

MotoCzysz experienced technical difficulties that kept its bike off the track in Portland and the MotoCzysz name didn't show on the TTXGP roster of race results form Sunday's event in Utah. MotoCzysz made history earlier in June when its bike broke the 100-miles-per-hour barrier for electric motorcycle racing in the TT Zero race on the Isle of Man.
